Enjoy live music from Josh Harp, our one-man orchestra on guitars and harmonica. Kids will collect treats and engage in educational, hands-on activities, exploring and learning about musical instruments in a fun way.

Melodia Mariposa started out doing driveway concerts during Covid and this will be our 4th Halloween themed event – and our first specially designed for the whole family.

Come in costume – snacks, crafts and crowd participation provided! Prizes for the best costume!

Josh Harp

Josh Harp was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He grew up in a large family that listened to many different types of music. Josh liked them all! He started playing guitar, harmonica and saxophone at the age of 12. Josh really got into the blues at the age of 16 after attending a free outdoor street festival called the Bessie Smith Strut in 1982 in downtown Chattanooga. He saw up close and in person, such legendary Blues performers like Albert King, Koko Taylor, Gatemouth Brown, to name a few.

After he completed his degrees in Political Science and Education from UTC, Josh moved to Chicago in 1990. He started working at the Chicago Public Library and playing with some of Chicago's leading Blues musicians including, but not limited to, Eddie C. Campbell, Billy Branch, Lurrie Bell. He played in numerous venues in Chicagoland
including The Kingston Mines, Navy Pier, Blues Etc, Buddy Guy’s Legends, Lilly’s, Bill’s Blues, Blues on Halstead. During this time, Josh also had many theater friends in Chicago that invited Josh and his band for music gigs at some of the top theaters in Chicago. Josh's band played many theater parties and held a weekly gig at the Gaslight bar in Chicago during the mid 1990's. Josh played gigs in Belgium, Holland, England, Switzerland during the early 2000's. He held a weekly gig at Buddy Guy's Legends in the spring/summer of 2003. He moved to South Florida in 2004, then to Los Angeles, California in 2005.

As a Certified Teacher, Josh started working for the Los Angeles Unified School District shortly after arriving in Los Angeles in 2005. From 2006 to 2010, he was teaching music full time at Dorsey High school. Josh still works as a substitute teacher for the LAUSD. In 2010, Josh started working as an actor. Taking lessons, attending workshops and taking any acting job available. Over the years, Josh has developed a unique acting style. He has worked in numerous Films (Babylon,The Joker 2, Alone, Band of Robbers), TV Shows (S.W.A.T, CSI Las Vegas, NCIS: Los Angeles) Music Videos (Chromeo, Avril Lavigne, Machine Gun Kelly, Nicki Minaj, The Weekend) and Commercials (DirecTV, American Red Cross, Southwest Airlines, Apple), to name a few.

Today, Josh still continues acting, working for LAUSD, recording/writing music and performing music live, most recently playing in Spain 2022, North Carolina 2022/23 and Peru 2023. joshharp.com
